A series of three gifts totaling $3.2 million given by Mr. Stan Fulton, owner of Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino in Sunland Park, will enable NMSU's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to build an academic support and sports medicine complex for its student athletes. The complex will house a computer lab, classrooms, study hall area and advisors offices as well as the the sports medicine operation - treatment and therapeutic rehabilitation areas, doctors' examining room, hydrotherapy area, classrooms for sports medicine education and offices for sports medicine staff.

Fulton, an entrepreneur, was most successful with his company Anchor Gaming, developer of the Wheel of Fortune Slot Machine. Business Week ranked it 27th on the list of 100 fastest growing small businesses in the United States in 1999. Since then, Anchor Gaming merged with Powerhouse Technologies and Mr. Fulton retired from the new company. Fulton's retirement package included ownership of Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.

Fulton said he has two remaining life goals: "To make Sunland Park a world class operation and to give away a lot of money."

NMSU appreciates his generosity and is honored to benefit from his commitment to education and our community.
